Whalen grew up in Springfield, Virginia and earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in film and video production at the Savannah College of Art and Design.  He is the winner of the ‘Best Cinematography’ award at the 8th Annual Chicago Horror Film Festival for his work on THE 8th PLAGUE.
